Teresa Tanner

After completing a fine art degree specializing in sculptural monochrome photography, I have returned to smaller scale mixed media painting. The works use a combination of oil, acrylic, wax, ink and organic material found at the scene of the painting. Using sketches and photographs taken when out on my bike, the final paintings often feature birds, in particular crows which are a metaphor for the derelict buildings appearing in my black and white photographs. Influences are Fukase, Sugimoto, Bruegel, Kiefer and the glorious Book of Hours. I exhibit both locally and further afield. 2010 was a busy year with exhibitions, commissioned work and teaching watercolour painting.
