The Account Area

Once you have registered as a user you have access to your own area of the site called “My Account”, which allows you to update your details, email preferences, submissions and shortlisted items.

If you have already registered then you need to Sign In to access your Account Area. You will then be prompted to enter your Username (the email address with which you registered), and the Password you specified.

This help page will cover all of the sections of your Account Area, but you will also find this information available throughout the Account Area itself.

The options that you will have available in your Account Area will depend on the type of user you are. To see more detail on the Account Area that is relevant to you, please select the type of user you are below (headings in red), or click on a sub-link to jump to a specific section.

If you are unsure of what group applies to you, or for further information on the types of account, please see the Benefits & Costs page.

As a viewer you have the following sections available in your account area:

This section allows you to update your contact details. These details are never displayed to anyone else, and are not passed on to any 3rd party; other than is provided for in the terms and conditions.

The title, forename and surname are used to address you in any emails that are sent to you.

The address details and contact number are purely optional, and would only be used should we have any reason to contact you if there was a problem, and we were unable to reach you by email.

The email address is used as both part of your login to the site, and to send you any emails that you have requested. Changing this will not log you out, but it will take effect when you next need to login.

Note: Please remember that the password you enter is case-sensitive, so make sure that the caps lock key is not on.

Shortlisted Events and Competitions

This section allows you to view a list of the events and competitions that you have chosen to shortlist.

You can remove them from the shortlist by clicking on the shortlist icon.

Add Commission

This section allows you to commission a piece of artwork, which the artists of the site can then bid upon.

Give as much detail as you can when you submit a commission as this will allow the artists to better understand your requirements.

Once a commission has been added it will be made available to the artists who will then be able to bid on the commission as well as asking any questions. Also see “Your Commissions”

Your Commissions

This section will only become visible in your account area after you have created a commission.

This will show you a list of the commissions that you have submitted, along with an overview of how many bids are pending, rejected or accepted.

Clicking on the link will take you through to the full details of the commission. Here you can answer any questions, accept or reject a bid, or even delete the commission.

When you answer a question you can choose whether or not to show the answer to everyone, or whether or not you would just like to answer the artist directly. So for example, if you asked for a painting of a dog but forgot to specify what type of dog, then you would most likely want everyone to see the answer to that question so that you don’t have to keep answering it.

Each artist that bids on your commission will also include a link to their page on the site, allowing you to check out some of their current artwork to see their style and suitability.

Once you accept a bid from an artist they will be given access to your name and email address, and you will of course have access to their contact details from their public page.

Your details (private)

This section allows you to update your contact details. These details are never displayed to anyone else, and are not passed on to any 3rd party; other than is provided for in the terms and conditions.

Although it is possible for people to email you from your profile page, your actual email address is never displayed on the site. This is done to prevent spammers from obtaining your email address.

Your details (public)

This section controls the details that are shown on your public profile page. The changes that you make to the details here will immediately be reflected on your public profile. The only exception to this rule is if you request a new medium to be added to the site, which will then need to be confirmed by us before being published. If you remove your main profile image and upload another, it will not change until you have clicked on update.

You may select one of the pre-set categories and mediums to apply to your resource, or if none of these correctly describe your resource you may request a new category or medium. Any new requests will need to be approved by us before they are added to the site. Note; this will not stop your resource from being displayed.

Events and competitions will be automatically removed from display on the site as soon as they finish, but it is also possible for you to manually delete the event / competition if required.

Your Artwork

This section allows you to edit or remove your existing artwork, as well as add new artwork.

Almost all of the changes you make to your artwork will show immediately on the site, with the exception of requests for new Mediums, Theme / Subjects or Objects. Removing and/or changing the image will not effect the current image until you have clicked on ‘Update Artwork’.

Note: If the image is very large it may take some time for the image to upload, depending on the quality of your internet connection. Ideally it should be as close to 1500px wide as possible to minimise the time it takes to upload, whilst making the best use of the zoom functionality. If the image is larger than this it will be automatically adjusted to fit in with the maximum size on the site, but will take longer to upload.
