Wells Art Contemporary 2021
An Open Exhibition

Established in 2012 by artists for artists, Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) is an open competition for innovative visual art.

Saturday, 28th August 2021 - Sunday, 26th September 2021

The 2021 Wells Art Contemporary is now open online! We are delighted to showcase the 91 artworks selected by this year’s judges - Amanda Loomes, Jonathan Yeo, and Will Nash. Brought to us by 87 artists from across the world, the shortlisted artworks are innovative and eclectic, spanning across all disciplines, media and subjects.

Specially curated by the Wells Art Contemporary team, you can view all the works in the virtual exhibition rooms below. We hope you enjoy your virtual wander round the gallery! If anything catches your eye, be sure to head over to the online shop where all available works can be purchased.

As well as the virtual exhibition below, all selected works will be shown in Wells Cathedral, Somerset from Saturday 28 August to Sunday 26 September. Alongside the shortlisted works, a range of installations created specifically for WAC 2021 will be exhibited throughout the Cathedral. Selected by Simon Periton, the engaging and thought provoking installations have been designed specifically for the Cathedral and its grounds. Continuing their outreach activities with the local community, WAC will also showcase a selection of works put forward by three local charities - Heads Up, The Rubbish Art Project and Imagine, Learn & Create. Visitors to the Cathedral will also be able to cast their vote for the People’s Choice winner. We hope to see you there!
